In the dead of night in Manhattan, SPIDAR-MAN returns home from patrol and strips off his suit, only to find a viscous, black shadow—Vecum—quietly seeping in. Just as he attempts to flee, he is intercepted by Doctor Ock’s mechanical arms. It turns out the Doctor has secretly allied with Vecum; coveting the 87% compatibility rate between SPIDAR-MAN and the mysterious symbiote, he intends to conduct a forbidden experiment pushing the limits of the human body.
